Kansas City by Albert King Guitar Lesson by Johnny Burgin w spec guest Dean Shot

When reknown NJ guitarist Dean Shot and I got together, we hit on some Albert King right off the bat. I was blown away by the way he actually plays the guitar with the high strings on the bottom! And his sound and feel just knocked me out. That's Nick Fishman on drums in the jam.
Kansas City is from Albert's great Stax period. It's 2.33 of blues nirvana. I pick out some highlights and really concentrate on the inro-- nailing an intro can set you on the right course for the whole song. It's hard for me to hear his solo at times over the horns-- but I do talk about a horn part you can play on rhythm guitar. There are other (probably easier!) ways to finger it-- but it's a great part behind a burning string-squeezing solo.
