Tennis Elbow? But I Don't Play Tennis!
Have you been diagnosed with tennis elbow but you don't play tennis? Have you been suffering with elbow pain along the outside of your elbow?
Well you're not alone! And this is actually a very common injury for individuals who like to workout. I like to refer to it as "Lateral Raise Elbow".
If you feel pain and tenderness on the outside of your elbow, it's most likely on the lateral epicondyle of your arm bone (humerus). This is in fact lateral epicondylitis (commonly called tennis elbow). But how? You don't play tennis!
The muscles that extend your wrist are attached at your lateral epicondyle. These muscles are placed under a lot of stress when we perform exercises such as dumbbell lateral raises. The stress can cause a build up of fascial adhesion (AKA scar tissue) in the extensor muscles. The end result: Stress on the tendon that attaches to the lateral epicondyle.
On today's video, I demonstrate 2 important solutions for healing the wrist extensor muscles known as the extensor carpi radialis brevis and longus.
1. Myofascial Release Techniques - Cross friction massage and Pin/Stretch Technique
2. Strengthening of these two muscles.
