Amelia Earhart: first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic 🌍✈️

On May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart took off from Newfoundland, aiming to become the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. The journey was brutal: clouds, ice, and mechanical problems forced her to abandon the Paris plan. After nearly 15 hours in the air, she landed in a pasture near Culmore, Northern Ireland.

The landing may not have gone as planned, but Earhart made history. She became a global symbol of courage and determination — earning the National Geographic Society’s Gold Medal, the U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross, and France’s Legion of Honor.
