Mortars were very important weapons for use in and around fixed fortifications and entrenchments during the Civil War. In this outstanding educational video, you will see an 8-inch siege mortar fired with live (explosive!) ammunition. You will learn how to aim, load, and service the mortar after firing it. The duties of the crew are detailed as well.
