Nikolai Budashkin - Concerto for Domra & Orchestra, Op. 8 (1943)

Nikolai Budashkin (1910-1988) grew up in Chita (Russian: Чита,; Buryat: Шэтэ, Shete; Mongolian: Чит, Chit) which is a city and the administrative center of Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia. located at the confluence of the Chita and Ingoda Rivers and on the Trans-Siberian Railway, 900 kilometers (560 mi) east of Irkutsk.

In his youth he worked as blacksmith in Chita. In 1937 he graduated for Compositions, Moscow Conservatory. He studied amongst others with Reinhold Gliere and Nikolai Myaskovsky. From 1938-1940 postgrad, student in instrumentation class, Moscow Conservatory. 1941-1944 composer, Political Board, Baltic Fleet, with rank of Senior Lieutenant, Administration Branch.

1945-1949 Deputy Artistic Director and composer, Osipov Russia Folk Orchestra.
1937-1939 board member, Moscow Department, Union of Composers.
