Saint-Saëns / Liszt: Danse Macabre, Op.40/S.555 (Cohen)
Cohen's lovely recording of the Danse Macabre. He brings to his playing a steely, biting Romanticism: the sound is slightly drier than usual (a Danse Macabre can't get too wet, after all), the tempo uncompromising, and the rhythms are relentless. The clarity in the contrapuntal passages is also pretty remarkable.
