Do I need a 7000 pound heavy bag?

Q&A with the coach. Shanghai based MMA coach and Kunlun Fight Combat League ringside commentator Ramsey Dewey answers questions from the viewers. This time, our friend HB has some questions about getting a heavy bag that’s just right for him. He wants to get a HUGE punching bag, but doesn’t think it’s a practical possibility with the cost of shipping.

How big of a heavybag do you actually need? How do you fill an unfilled Muay Thai banana bag? How much does boxing technique matter? Can you get a good workout with smaller, lighter heavy bags? Is there more to bag work than just punching and kicking?

Here’s a super old video of me stuffing a homemade 200 pound Muay Thai bag (which is unusually large and heavy for this kind of bag)

Bruce Lee’s famous personal heavy bag only weird 69 lbs. There are many rumors on the internet that Bruce Lee used a giant 300 lb punching bag that was filled with iron balls or some nonsense like that (because people love to turn their idols into demigods) but according to the actual auction of personal possessions from Mr. Lee’s estate, which included his personal heavy bag, it was a pretty standard sized 69 pound canvas boxing bag.
