Today, Christian and Michael tackle some of the hottest hitting questions and subjects in the watch world!

First up, we have Phillips' newest auction, and what it means for the watch world. Michael brings up the Cartier "Baseball," along with a myriad of other interesting Cartier watches that are just mind blowing to see, such as their original Monopusher next to one of the modern ones. Something funky the brand used to do is they used to produce their watches in bimetal in parts that you can't see, like the inside of the clasp or the caseback. Then we have F.P. Journe, another brand that did exceptionally well during COVID-19, who are a massive feature in the new auction.

Now onto Jacob & Co., with their new Godfather watch, the rose gold Opera Godfather watch. It's unbelievably horrible, frankly, and whoever at Paramount licensed this thing needs to be fired. But the bigger question is "Who is the buyer here?" Because we have no idea.

From there, we move onto Jaquet Droz with our newest collaboration with them. This short film focuses on a side of the brand we don't often see, a version of toughness that is still sleek in nature and elegant. It's a rich watch, that fits really well into the changing nature of luxury culture.

But enough about that. Let's talk about Naoya Hida & Co, a watch brand doing some truly incredible work. They make about 10 watches a year, and they come in about $20k which is a lot for a watch with an off the shelf movement. The real defense of that price point, given those movements, is the level of finishing the watch features, both on the dial and the cases. It's a beautiful series of watches, made by one guy, and could very well be worth some serious money in the coming years.

Now we have custom Cartier, one of the most interesting topics of recent, and what that means for the market. Some of the best clients include Eric Ku and Wei Koh, who have designed some beautiful watches with the brand, and the process of going about it is still kind of mysterious. But it does open up a rather interesting conversation about this as the ultimate form of customer appreciation. There's a level of exclusivity to the process that really helps to elevate the brand into something truly special.
