The Benn Tapes S1E8 - The 1992 General Election (1994) [Cassette Rip]

Cassette rip of the eighth and final episode of the first season of The Benn Tapes, a radio programme made up of excerpts from the cassette diary kept by the Labour politician Tony Benn from 1966 onwards. This episode was, according to BBC Genome, first broadcast on Radio 4 on the 8th September 1993, and deals with the 1992 General Election.

From the booklet accompanying the cassette:
8 - The 1992 General Election
Fighting his sixteenth parliamentary election in the 1992 General Election, Tony Benn found himself opposed to the Labour Party's manifesto, a programme which reflected the rightward shift of the Shadow Cabinet and the National Executive Committee under the Party's leader Neil Kinnock. Nevertheless, Tony Benn began his campaigning, at the end of March 1992, in good spirits and with high hopes.

This account from Benn's Election diary reveals the ups and downs during those last days before April 9, the entertaining side of electioneering, the media's speculations about the result, and his reflections on the future shape of British politics.
