Cassette rip of the first album by Liverpool shanty group Stormalong John.

From the box:
Stormalong John is a Liverpool-based group with members from all parts of Britain and Ireland. We take our name from the mythical ideal sea captain of the days of sail.

Shanties were used on board to keep the required rhythm and pace for various work tasks while other songs, known as forebitters, were sung by sailors during their rest periods. This international selection includes examples of both.

Recorded in a single brisk, barnacles-and-all session on 8th June, 1987.
