Tesla Terafactory Texas Update #79 in 4K: Concrete Columns Up North - 12/22/20 (5:00pm)

Welcome back guys, it’s Randy! Today’s video shows some interesting developments happening all over the site and a couple of new things signaling what’s to come. One of these developments is the locating and raising of concrete columns directly east of the northern steel structure, which started yesterday and I completely missed in yesterday’s video.

There’s a lot to cover so let’s jump to today’s key takeaways:
- On the north end, we can see that the far north section of the steel structure is completely filled in with the required beams and columns. The spreading of the steel decking on each level and roof are what remains before we see other things start happening. At about the center point of this structure on the east side, is where we can see where crews have started erecting the concrete columns and were actively placing the third one with the fourth on the ground nearby as well.
- On the east side, the “zipper” will be no more after today as crews have completed work with the deep foundation and footings in the area and have started covering everything back up with soil so that only the tops of each footing are exposed. The perimeter grade beam on this side is also now having concrete poured.
- The south end shows the formwork removed from the 3 new footings nearest the power lines from yesterday and are in the process of being covered. Roofing sections continue to be added on the west side over the isolation foundation and something that myself and others have been wondering was how were they going to get the crane pictured in the inner portion of the isolation foundation out of its current location and it looks to be that they are fine just driving it atop the concrete that covers the isolation foundation, given that we can see tracks leading directly to this area, along with wood blocks and other materials used as shims to help make the difference between the height of the concrete and ground around it more consistent. This definitely lets us know how well this structure is built since they have the confidence to drive one of these huge cranes with all of the counterweights in place on top of the structure!
- On the west side of the site, the steel structure is now having columns placed that indicate that they will build this structure out to the north initially. It’ll be exciting to see how quickly this one can take shape once the other cranes are operational.
- On the far east side, in the large area where the switchyard is supposed to be, we can see that there is a new field trailer towards the north and some deliveries have taken place around it. In the area further south, where the large group of field offices have been relocated, we can see that a new trench is being dug directly to the east of the trailers and this one looks to actually be the type for electrical and utilities.
