ALASKA to OSH | Day 1 | Delays + Malfunctions + Flying 3000+ Miles in a Cessna 172

THIS IS IT! Today we depart on the first leg of our EPIC ADVENTURE from Alaska to Oshkosh to get the panel of N2423U upgraded and brought into the 21st Century with new avionics. Come with us as we take to the skies during this once-in-a-lifetime aviation experience, flying cross country.

This new series is just starting, and we've got a lot in store for you. Of course we'll take you on the massive journey flying from Homer, Alaska flying all the way to Oshkosh, Wisconsin. There are a lot of challenges along the way, flying in the winter time. And of course, dealing with things in Canada.

[SPOILER] Today we fly from Homer to Anchorage, unable to reach further because of weather and the shorter days. So we'll stay the night and hold up for weather. Along the way we'll talk about those weather challenges, some PIREPS for turbulence, flight following, water crossings, using ForeFlight, but not before we have a radio failure before we leave. When it rains, it pours!

Then, there's a the whole panel upgrade. It's gonna be AWESOME! We will bring this airplane into the 21st century with avionics from Garmin, PS Engineering and in partnership with NewView Technologies. The panel upgrade process is incredibly interesting. As pilots, I can say we have no idea how complex things are behind the scenes. These avionics are amazing!
