A Perfect Day in Helsinki, Finland

Helsinki is the capital of Finland and a city full of inspiration. In this video, we spend a perfect day exploring some of Helsinki's top attractions. Finnish design is known around the world so we begin at the Design Museum. It's located in the fashionable Design District, which is a vibrant neighbourhood to wander around. The museum used to be a school and it's where Tove Jansson was once a pupil. Tove is the creator of the internationally-beloved Moomin characters. If you visit Finland you will most definitely see Moomin everywhere, as they are a staple of Finnish culture. Our next stop is the Moomin Cafe where you can sip on a latte with your favourite Moomin character on top while cuddling little plush toys and reading Moomin books. Once we're caffeinated we head to Oodi, Helsinki's Central Library. It's a remarkable building that has made headlines around the world for its architecture and innovation. Next we walk to the Kamppi Chapel of Silence which is a small chapel right in Helsinki's bustling downtown. It's a place where people can come to be quiet, reflect, and have an anonymous chat with mental health staff if they need to talk. Nearby is the Amos Rex art museum which has a really cool roof that you can walk and run all over. There are large curved windows that allow light down into the museum below ground. The Amos Rex building was constructed in the 1930s and many of the design details have been preserved. All the exploring works up an appetite so we head to the Katajanokka area of Helsinki which is near the water. Ravintola Nokka is a restaurant located in some of the city's oldest buildings where the chef has been named the country's top chef. The tasting menu is delicious and our server knows where every single ingredient has been sourced. We end the night back in the Design District at our cozy Airbnb which has been the perfect place to call home in Helsinki.
