Vaughan Williams 'A London Symphony' - Detroit Symphony / Richard Hickox conducts

Vaughan Williams's "A London Symphony" is a colourful depiction of the great city which might be thought to evoke a day in the life of a Londoner, since it begins with the morning dawn and ends with the onset of night-time. It is always fascinating to hear great American orchestras play British works and this splendid performance was given by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in 1999 under the baton of the English-born conductor Richard Hickox. (With apologies for the bronchial attention-seekers in the audience!)
