Pay Yourself First - Automate Your Savings
How to Pay Yourself First - Use the Paycheck to Paycheck Budgeting Template to Automate Your Savings.
In this video, I will share with you a few suggestions to reframe your thoughts as it relates to saving and investing.
I always like to include personal stories to illustrate the point. In the past, I've used various money saving challenges to save money.
In addition, I had my previous employer divide my paychecks into multiple direct deposits. If you don't see it, you probably won't spend it.
How to use a budget to automate your savings:
Incorporate savings into your budgeting process. Insert a line item in your budget for sinking funds, savings, and/or investing.
As you sit down to pay your creditors and/or vendors, pay yourself first.
Even if you have to start small, stop saving what’s left over after paying your bills. Pay your bills with what’s left over after saving.
Everyone is at a different point on their financial journey. You don’t need to concern yourself with anyone else’s journey. Focus on your own.
Start from where you are now. Do what you can afford. But the goal is to take action. Start NOW!
As you begin to see results from your efforts, DO MORE…
No excuses. Make a commitment to yourself to create a budget for your money. Save money. Invest money. And, of course, spend some of your money intentionally.
Now's the time! Create a plan to reach your financial goals.
