Friends of Rhydypennau Library - Chicken Crazy Event April 2016

On Saturday 23rd April, Rhydypennau Library went CHICKEN CRAZY when we brought along some friendly breeds of bantam
chickens. Susanna Thomas the librarian brought along 4 chickens in total. There was a silver-laced Wyandotte, lavender and buff Pekins and a white Silkie. All of the chidren got to see and touch these friendly birds and learnt a little bit about keeping hens and some of the myths associated with chickens.

There was also a chance to do a spot of digging in the garden to further it's development sine the Dig FoRL Victory event last time.

We also had 5 different crafts, all chicken themed so kids could make their very chickens from paper plates, card with some real feathers.

Loads of cake and biscuits were donated and above all it was a totally FREE super-fun event all arranged by the Friends of Rhydypennau Library to help highlight the importance of libraries within a community and how austerity cuts are decimating public services.
