Whilst preparing supper, an urgent request came in from the Game Reserve Manager - an elephant calf with a snare around its neck has been spotted!! And her herd is nowhere to be seen...
All the hands available are needed, as the process has to happen speedily and the calf must be lifted (this calf weighed 400kg!) onto a vehicle to be transported to a rehabilitation centre.
It was pitch dark and predators could have been around, but all we cared about was the safety of the calf.
