I have been charged with aggravated sexual assault uh this did not happen the way she said it did thus there is no evidence but I'm still being charged what are my options your options are limited what you're describing is is is unfortunately pretty common usually it's a woman who makes an allegation against a guy and it takes very little more than that to turn an allegation into a criminal charge so what are your options option one is you will be appointed a public defender and uh and you can always stick with that option option two is is you hire a private attorney to do that whenever I talk to potential clients or at least family members about these cases I always tell them that you are going to get what you pay for and you don't want to bargain on a case where your son or your father or your brother's life is is at stake I always encourage people to if they have that ability you know exercise the option of hiring a private attorney that there's such a difference between the the quality of representation when it's the public defender's office versus a private attorney
