Before ever negotiating your salary, you should know the going salary for your position on the market, IN YOUR COUNTRY - many people make the mistake of moving countries or even cities and expect to have the same salary. Use things like GlassDoor, keep up to date with job offers (even if you aren't looking) to see the salaries being offered or speak to people you know in a similar profession.

You need to ask your boss to have a meeting, that you need to prepare beforehand. You should explain why you want to stay in the company and not go elsewhere (state all the things you like about the company that motivate you), but mention the fact that you would like your salary to match your level of seniority or responsibility. To do this, you can use statistics and numbers like the KPIs that you've met, the targets you've surpassed, the years you've been there and other things you've accomplished to show that you deserve it.

If you're making a lateral move (changing positions but not getting higher), you can try to argue that now you have already know how the company works so they don't have to train somebody else in that, and on top of that you're capable of working in more than one department!

The main thing is to show that you're keen to stay in the company but in order for that, you need to have compensation for your worth.
