Working on pitted rust.
Join me as I try different things to deal with pitted rust. This process from start to epoxy took one week and about 8 hours of work time total.
These are inner fenders on my 1986 Jeep Wagoneer. The battery acid damaged and pitted a pretty large section.
I removed all the paint using my SCT Contour withe the black drum. Laso used a fiber brush on a drill, and fiber disk on a grinder.
I tried Evapo Rust on the pitted sections, but didn't get the result I was hoping for. It works great when the metalnis fully submerged, but not how I used it.
Then I tried sandblasting. That's the way to go, buy I didn't have enough air, and the equipment I used wasn't 100%.
So, in the end, I got as close as I could with my red fiber brush. Then I used a different rust converter. I believe I neutralized it fully before epoxy.
It took way too long for these two panels.
