I’m Watch.Eric. In this video I am going to be going over 5 things you did not know about Rolex. This is going to be the first part of a series because Rolex has so many things that most people do not know about. I will unveiling many more over the next few episodes.

#1 All Rolex are hand assembled
Every single part of your Rolex has been made in house from base materials and are then all hand assembled. That’s pretty remarkable considering how many watches Rolex produces a year, so if you have a Rolex at home, know that is was assembled by hand by one of there expert watchmakers.

#2 Rolex uses the most expensive Stainless Steel in the world.
Habe you ever wondered why your Rolex looks and feels different than every other watch? That is because Rolex is the only watchmaker that uses 904L Stainless Steel. This steel completely outlast every other type of steel and is incredibly corrosion resistant. If you every see any signs of rust on a Rolex that is a bad sign. Most brands use 316L which is also a superior stainless steel; however, Rolex is the only watchmaker that exclusively uses 904L ,the most expensive stainless steel in the world.

#3 The most expensive Rolex sold for $17,800,000
Interestingly enough the most expensive Rolex in the world wasn’t just a Daytona Paul Newman, but it was actually Paul Newman’s Daytona. It was sold in October of 2017 at a Phillips auction and was sold for $17,800,000. They buyer bought it through the phone. The first bid was 1,000,000 and the second bidder jumped it up to $10,000,000 immediately, eventually closing for $17,800.000. I think that watch is marks its part in "watch history" because it was Paul Newman's actual watch gifted to him by his wife.

#4 Rolex is the only watchmaker that has their own foundry.
In true typical Rolex fashion they make there own gold in-house. They are the only watchmaker that has an in-house foundry. This allows them to have complete control of there quality, so when they go to machine their parts it all comes out with exceptional quality. To add to the list of the things they already do, they also make there own gold.

#5 Rolex has been to the deepest part of the ocean.
Rolex being extra with their accomplishments has been to the deepest part of the ocean. Omega has the claim to be the first watch on the Moon, but Rolex is the only watch that has been down to the Mariana Trench 12,000m or 39,500 feet. James Cameron took it down in 2012 through the Rolex DeepSea challenge. This Rolex kept time perfect during the entire 7 hour journey.

These are a quick 5 facts that you might have not known about Rolex. There is many more and I will be covering them soon.

Comment below what you think about any of these facts.
