Tesla Dog Mode keeps your pets safe by maintaining a set cabin temperature while parked, showing a reassuring on-screen message, and allowing remote monitoring via the Tesla app.

What Dog Mode Does

Dog Mode is an extension of Tesla’s climate system designed for pets. When activated, it:

Keeps the interior temperature at a safe, set level (heating or cooling as required)

Displays a large message on the center touchscreen to inform passersby that your pet is safe and the AC is on

Enables remote monitoring of cabin conditions through the Tesla app, including the Live Camera if equipped

Automatically maintains climate control while the car is parked and locked

This feature is available on most current Tesla models, including the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X

Enabling Dog Mode via Touchscreen
Park the vehicle: Shift into Park and ensure your dog is safely inside with water or a blanket if needed. Close all doors and windows.

Access climate controls: Tap the fan or temperature icon at the bottom of the touchscreen to open the full climate panel

Activate Dog Mode: In the climate menu, select Keep Climate On Dog or tap the dog paw icon.

Set the temperature: Many owners choose 68–72°F for comfort, adjusting for breed, age, or health

Exit and lock: Leave the vehicle and lock it using the phone key, card, or key fob. The touchscreen displays the Dog Mode message along with the current temperature

Activating Dog Mode via Tesla App
Open the Tesla app and select your car.
Navigate to Climate.

Scroll to Dog Mode and tap to activate.

Set your desired cabin temperature using the app’s controls.
Confirm Dog Mode is active and monitor the temperature remotely. Use Live Camera if available to check your pet
