Transformers CGI Caused A Computer to Explode?! The Bayformers films were some of the most technically ambitious projects of their time. The CGI holds up very well to this day and the amount of detail on them beats out the more recent Transformers character models. 1 of the most complex and difficult Cybertronians to bring to life on the big screen would have to be Devastator. Because of his top heavy nature he was only able to crawl which brough him to 45 feet tall. But when he stood straight up he's a whopping 100 feet. In Revenge of the Fallen there there are nine vehicles that form Devastator.His CGI model is comprised of 52,632 geometric pieces and 11.7 million polygons. According to Shawn Kelly, the ILM lead animator for Revenge of the Fallen, Devastator was so resource-intensive that it caused a computer to catch fire spontaneously, and melt from the inside.
