Thankfully the fans had the IDW movie tie-in comics to fall back on. These comic books did an excellent job expanded on things as well as filling in the gaps on things that were clearly missing from the films. They would also feature illustrations that mirrored what was in the movies. Which ultimately became an issue for newer film projects. During the promotional campaign for Dark of the Moon preview pages from IDW's Dark of the Moon comic adaptation were discovered at Amazon. Through some bizarre system error, several dozen pages were made available, which included the major plot twist of Sentinel Prime showing his true colors and killing Ironhide. Michael Bay was infuriated by this leak and order Hasbro to cease production of the comics for later sequels.
