In the late 1920s, fashion icon Henri Bendel commissioned a Tudor-style mansion in Stamford, Connecticut. Completed in 1931, the lavish estate featured a grand hall with vaulted ceilings, intricate European furnishings, and Italian marble sculptures adorning the grounds. In 1955, Bendel's estate was purchased by the Stamford Museum and opened to the public.
