Long COVID - HIGHLIGHTS

These researchers at University of Hawai‘i Cancer Center take advantage of the
ethnic diversity in Hawai‘i to identify and clarify how different forms of cancer are associated with specific cultural, behavioral and genetic factors, leading to more sophisticated treatment.
Speakers:
Natascha Ching is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician who cares for children with complicated infectious diseases. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she devised a protocol for Multi-system Inflammatory Syndrome in Children associated with COVID-19. She has treated children with acute COVID-19 infection and MIS-C. Dr. Ching lends her expertise as member on HDOH return to school and sports, COVID-19 vaccine medical advisory working group and on the Hawai‘i AAP COVID-19 working group. Dr Ching is affiliated with the Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, Hawai‘i Pacific Health Medical Group. She is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.

Bennett Loui is a primary care provider at Straub Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu, studied at Brown University and Thomas Jefferson University, and completed a Chief Residency in Internal Medicine with the University of Hawai'i. He is currently Chief of Internal Medicine at Hawaii Pacific Health Medical Group (HPHMG) and directs the HPH Long COVID Care Program.

Neal Palafox is currently Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Hawai'i. He is a member of four State COVID-19 response teams and has been a University of Hawai'i West Oahu COVID-19 Contact Tracer program guest lecturer for six of its cohorts.

Moderator:
Ira D. Zunin earned his medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine, completed a residency in Preventive Medicine, and then a Master’s Degree in Public Health. He is medical director of Manakai O Malama Integrative Clinic and Rehabilitation Center and CEO of Global Advisory Services, a consulting firm focused on re-imagining healthcare for the twenty-first century.
