G. L. Ostrander was built in 1976 by Halter Marine of Pierre Part, Louisiana, as the push tug Andrew Martin for Andrew Martin Marine Sea Service. She entered service for Andrew Martin Marine in 1976. She is 140′ 02″ long, 40′ 01″ wide, and 22′ 03″ deep, and is powered by a pair of General Motors EMD 20-645-E5 diesel engines rated at a total of 7,200 BHP.
In 1990, Andrew Martin was sold to River Marine Contractors, being renamed Robert L. Torres. The Torres was repowered with a new Caterpillar 3608 diesel engine in 1991. She was sold again in 1993 to Jacklyn Shipping of Tampa, Florida, and renamed Jacklyn M. in 1994.
Integrity was constructed in 1996 by Bay Shipbuilding of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, as a self-unloading cement barge for American Transport Leasing of Muskegon, Michigan. The barge was to be operated by Andrie, Inc. of Muskegon under a cargo contract to Lafarge Holcim. Integrity was the second of two nearly identical self-unloading cement barges constructed by Bay Shipbuilding, her sister being the Innovation of 2006. Integrity is equipped with a Fuller-Kinyon cement pump discharge system.
In 1995, Lafarge Holcim acquired Jacklyn M., bringing her to the Great Lakes where she would have her upper pilothouse raised and equipped with a Bludworth ATB connection system. In 1996, she was paired with the newly-constructed self-unloading cement barge Integrity, owned by American Transport Leasing. The pair entered service on August 6, 1996, departing Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, for Alpena, Michigan, to load cement. Upon the pair entering service, the older steamers E. M. Ford and S. T. Crapo were laid up for the final time at the end of the season.
In 2002, Jacklyn M. was repowered with her current set of GM EMD diesel engines. She was renamed G. L. Ostrander in 2004, after an executive at Lafarge. Operations continued as normal. G. L. Ostrander / Integrity continue to serve Lafarge cement, being operated and managed by Andrie Inc. of Muskegon, Michigan.
