American Century’s second visit for iron ore 4/05/2021
Launched on November 8, 1980 as the Columbia Star, this is the 12th of the thirteen 1,000 foot long vessels sailing the Great Lakes. With a combined 14,400 hp from four V-20 cylinder 3,560 horsepower G.M. diesel engines, she has a rated speed of 15 knots. She broke a cargo record in 1997 while carrying 70,903 tons of western coal through the Soo Locks. Renamed American Century in 2006, she currently sails for American Steamship Company
