Healthy Homemade Hot Chocolate

Today I'm going to show you how to make healthy hot chocolate.

I made 3 different hot chocolate recipes: Classic, Immune-Boosting and Oatmeal Hot Chocolate.

It's light, creamy and lower in calories.

HEALTHY HOT CHOCOLATE RECIPE
(makes 2 mugs of hot chocolate)

CLASSIC HOT CHOCOLATE:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) (360ml)
1/2 cup coconut milk (120ml)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tbsp maple syrup, honey or agave
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp dark chocolate chips

NUTRITIONAL INFO (per mug of hot chocolate):
204 calories, fat 11.5g, carb 21g, protein 7.8g

Preparation:
In a saucepan, add a little bit of milk, your sweetener, and cocoa powder, and whisk until the cocoa is dissolved.

Add the rest of the milk, and salt, and stir well.

Heat until hot but not boiling, then stir in the chocolate and mix until melted.

Serve hot with spoonful of whipped cream or coconut whipped cream on top. Dust with cocoa powder.

IMMUNE BOOSTING HOT CHOCOLATE:
Ingredients:
1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) (120ml)
1 cup coconut milk (120ml)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp maple syrup, honey or agave
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground turmeric
pinch of black pepper

NUTRITIONAL INFO (per mug of hot chocolate):
188 calories, fat 11.8g, carb 17.2g, protein 5.9g

Preparation:
In a saucepan, add a little bit of milk, your sweetener, and cocoa powder, and whisk until the cocoa is dissolved.

Add the rest of the milk, cinnamon, vanilla, ginger, turmeric, black pepper, and salt, and stir well.

Heat until hot but not boiling.

Serve hot with spoonful of whipped cream or coconut whipped cream on top. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.

OATMEAL HOT CHOCOLATE:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) (360ml)
1/2 cup coconut milk (120ml)
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
5-6 dates (30g)
1 tbsp rolled oats
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt

NUTRITIONAL INFO (per mug of hot chocolate):
200 calories, fat 9g, carb 25.4g, protein 8.2g

Preparation:
Add 1 cup milk, dates and rolled oats into a blender jug. Soak for 30 minutes and blend until smooth.

In a saucepan, add the oat mixture, rest of the milk, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt, and whisk well until combined.

Bring to heat and genly simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Serve hot with spoonful of whipped cream or coconut whipped cream on top. Sprinkle with rolled oats.
