Rivian and Ionna Make Charging Easy for R1S and R1T Owners
...Source: https://insideevs.com/news/761224/rivian-ionna-partnership-plug-and-charge/ Transcript: Per InsideEVs, Rivian owners now have a more seamless way to charge thanks to a new partnership with Ionna, an up-and-coming DC fast charging network backed by big names like General Motors, Toyota, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, and others.
R1T and R1S drivers can now use “plug-and-charge” at Ionna stations—no need to swipe or tap, just connect the cable and charging starts automatically if your payment info is already set up in Rivian’s app. Ionna currently has 12 stations operating in the U.S., featuring 400-kilowatt chargers that support both CCS1 and NACS connectors. Many sites also include restrooms, lighting, and food options, bringing a more traditional rest-stop feel to EV charging.
This doesn’t mean Rivian is stepping back from its own network; the company still runs the Rivian Adventure and Waypoints chargers. But this move—similar to Rivian’s earlier integration with Tesla’s Supercharger network—gives customers more flexibility and a better user experience on the road.
Ionna aims to install 30,000 charging bays across the U.S. by 2030, positioning itself as a major player in public charging infrastructure.
