Tiny Electric Motor Outperforms Four Tesla Motors Combined

...Source: https://insideevs.com/news/776572/yasa-axial-flux-motor-new-power-density-record/ Transcript: Per InsideEVs, UK-based electric motor maker Yasa has just unveiled a groundbreaking axial flux motor that set a new unofficial record for power density. The new prototype weighs only 28 pounds yet delivers a jaw-dropping 750 kilowatts – that’s over 1,000 horsepower – translating to 59 kilowatts per kilogram. To put that in perspective, it's more powerful than the combined output of two Tesla Model 3 Performance motors and 40% more powerful than Yasa’s own previous record-breaker.

Even more impressive, this compact motor is capable of sustaining between 469 and 536 horsepower continuously – not just in bursts. This kind of lightweight, high-output motor could lead to better driving range, since lighter vehicles require smaller batteries, and that also means shorter charging times.

Yasa says the motor doesn’t use exotic materials and is scalable for mass production. While it’s currently being used in high-end performance vehicles like the Ferrari 296 GTB and Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept, the company hints it could eventually make its way into more mainstream Electric Vehicles as demand grows.
