Wildiaries VentureSome Live - Narelle Webber, Under Down Under Tours

Narelle’s decision to return to Tasmania with her family, after a decade or so living in Bondi, was to give the kids a chance to grow up in the island’s environment. “We missed the ‘nature-connection’ and Tassie offers so much diversity in ways to experience nature as well as ease of access, and I believe it’s the best place on earth to raise a family and satisfy your own desire to get out and explore locally”, says Narelle. Having spent a 15 years running international travel programs plus a stint with non-profit Conservation Volunteers exploring the health benefits of nature to volunteers, she found Under Down Under Tours, an eco-certified company, and was offered a job. While reapplying for ecocertification, she enrolled in an Aboriginal training course. “I grew up in Tasmania but knew nothing about Aboriginal culture”, says Narelle. “There is this whole dimension to the landscape and stories and we’re really keen to let guests know about it”. Working in the business allows Narelle to enjoy all her passions, exploring the trails of kunanyi/Mount Wellington, the explosion of mountain biking trails, the food culture, quality local produce, the distilleries and wineries. “I love that we can be easily have a mountain or a coastal experience the very same day.”
