Episode 75 - Rear Main Seal 1993 Ford F250 302 5.0

Welcome! In this video I go over how what a rear main seal is, how to remove it and how to install a new one. Please make sure to watch the entire thing as I start using one method (drill hole in seal, pull out with screw) and ultimately switch to a different method (bend in seal with screwdriver, pull out) and I talk about the pros and cons of each method. Above all else, take your time with this one. If you score up the sealing surface, the seal will leak and there's no quick fix product you can use to fix it other than a repair sleeve. The content in this video should be good for any newer Ford 302 or Ford 351, probably Ford 300 as well. I say newer because I believe the early 302's had a two part rear main seal.

So far, we've put oil back in the engine for the truck and it's not leaking so I didn't totally screw up on installing this... more updates once we get the truck back in running condition and we can put some hours on it.
