Trump’s ‘elderly and overweight’ but he’s back, proving 'fear of COVID is unjustified'

Despite being a 74-year-old man who is overweight, Donald Trump’s quick recovery is “evidence of the fact that Americans and the world should not be afraid” of COVID-19, according to Daily Telegraph Columnist Miranda Devine.

“I think that fear has crippled a lot of people psychologically and economically,” she told Sky News.

Ms Devine pointed out most American fatalities “happened early when we didn’t have treatments, when there wasn’t a vaccine around the corner”.

“The fatality rate now has plummeted in America,” she said.

“It is no longer a death sentence, particularly if you are under 65, you’re not obese, you don’t have diabetes and you don’t have these comorbidities.

"There are a lot of people and a lot of Democrats who for political purposes want to keep the country scared and locked down until the election.

Ms Devine said people have taken to joking about how the coronavirus "will no longer be perceived as a threat by the Democrats on November four."

COVID-19 has killed over 209,000 people in the United States, while over seven million Americans have been infected.
