Somali Week Festival 2017, DAY 4 Catastrophe-Xasan Daahir Weedhsame

Catastrophe is a long narrative poem addressing the forced
migration of Somali people, by the brilliant young poet
Xasan Daahir Weedhsame student of the great Gaarriye.
The poem, which will be launched in a special, illustrated
Poetry in Translation Centre edition, reads like a cry of
fury about theongoing refugee crisis across Europe.
Dr Martin Orwin will introduce the event and present the poem, and the poem’s translator, British poet Daljit Nagra, will read with Weedhsame. The evening will end with music performance by Nimco Yaasiin.
