Voices from the 1968 Poor People's Campaign
The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza had the extraordinary honor of recording oral histories with more than a dozen people involved in the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign. As a special “extra” in our Voices From the Civil Rights Movement series, we are pleased to share this compilation of memories from those storytellers. Included are excerpts from interviews with Pastor Michael Jossell, Dr. Wornie Reed, Rev. Rob Eller-Isaacs, Dr. Lenneal Henderson, Rev. John Reynolds, Sheryll Cashin, Roland L. Freeman, Al McSurely, Laura Jones, Dr. Gordon Mantler, Gloria Arellanes and Sharlene Kranz. All of the interviews featured here were conducted via Zoom by Museum Curator Stephen Fagin in 2021 and 2022 and may be viewed in full in the Museum’s online collections database: https://emuseum.jfk.org/collections/37924/1968-poor-peoples-campaign/objects.
