A Time for Greatness: The 1960 Kennedy Campaign

This video was produced by The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza for the special exhibition, “A Time for Greatness: The 1960 Kennedy Campaign” (May 21 – November 13, 2016). It features an edited newsreel - “The Election of John F. Kennedy, President of the United States, 1960” - produced by Hearst Metrotone News, Inc. for international distribution by the United States Information Services. Interspersed throughout the newsreel footage are three notable John F. Kennedy campaign commercials which aired on American television in 1960. Running one minute each, the commercials include the Kennedy campaign jingle, entertainer Harry Belafonte in conversation with Sen. Kennedy, and Jacqueline Kennedy speaking Spanish.
