Class 37 thrash on the 'Buffer Puffer 6.1' rail tour, 08/03/08.

Standard Def footage of Pathfinder Tours' 'Buffer Puffer 6.1' which started at London Cannon Street and finished at London Kings Cross some fifteen hours later.

The locomotives for this trip were 37 401 and 37 405 which were top and tailing six mk1 carriages. I have listed some of the stations we passed through below, some of which were quite unusual locations for the class 37s, or any loco-hauled train for that matter. Please feel free to post a comment if you recognise any of the junctions, curves and crossovers I haven't listed.

The miserable weather (and 37 401) basically killed my microphone during this trip. However, I have still managed to put together a good thirty minutes of footage which includes some spirited performances and in slippery conditions. 405 started to sound quite rough during the tour, but this makes it quite easy to recognise which loco is leading after the many reversals which occurred during the day.

Some of the locations included are London Cannon Street (405 leading from CST), Waterloo East, London Charing Cross (401 then leading from CRX), London Bridge, Sydenham, Crystal Palace, Tulse Hill, Richmond (405 leading to UCK), Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Hurst Green, Hever, Crowborough, Uckfield (401 then leading to ECR), Birchden Junction, Hurst Green Junction, Oxted, South Croydon, East Croydon, East Grinstead (401 then leading from EGR to LBG), East Croydon, Norwood Junction, Crystal Palace, London Bridge (405 then leading to VIC), Battersea Pier Junction, London Victoria (401 then leading to BFR), London Blackfriars (405 then leading to GDH), Upper Holloway, Finsbury Park, Gordon Hill (401 then leading to KGX), Finsbury Park and finally London Kings Cross where 405 departs with the 5Z43 empties to Wembley.
