Dick: Thank you ladies, very much. Now, if you were a teenager late in the 50's, you were probably looking "peachy keen" or "neat-o", "cool" and "smooth".
Woman: These students are portraying what we consider bad taste in school attire and behavior. Except, when school was in session. This student is wearing an extremely tight skirt and tight sweater. Off the shoulder dresses or earrings are considered improper for school wear. Open shirts, black jackets, dungarees are mentioned in the code as "not proper" school attire.
Dick: Well, things weren't all that bad. In the 50's we were dancing The Bop. And, remember the stroll? And, we turned a plastic hoop into a national craze, in the late 50's. And, when it came time to hit the road in the late 50's, we did it in style. And, a lot of chrome.
Now, if you had a hot date in the 50's, you might have driven one of those gas guzzlers down to the beach, or a drive in, or an amusement park.
Laura: And, that's still true today. In fact, just like beautiful Knotts Berry Farm. But, in the 50's amusement parks meant 2 things; Palisades Park and Freddy Cannon.
:: Freddy Cannon, "Palisades Park" ::
Laura: Now, picture this, it's a beautiful summer night, in 1959. You get all dressed up, your boyfriend picks you up in his convertible and you are headed for an uptown evening.
Chuck: That means, you are headed for The Drifters!
:: The Drifters, "There Goes My Baby" ::
Laura: How do you follow one of the best male singing groups of the 50's? With one of the best female singing groups of the 50's. And, here they are again, The Shirelles.
:: The Shirelles, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" ::
Dick: Rock Rolls On, once again, with Freddy Cannon.
::Freddy Cannon, "Tallahassee Lassie" ::
