Thoughts on Peace Officers Memorial Day 2020
May 15th is recognized in the United States as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Signed into law on October 1, 1962, the day's observance recognizes the local, state, and federal law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The Marshals Museum is humbled by our responsibility to tell the stories of those who died while supporting the mission of the Office of United States Marshal.
Today, we are sharing the voices of some special people who help us tell those stories. Listen as current and former Directors of the agency, retired Marshals and Deputy Marshals, and our own Mayor share their thoughts on the importance of this day.
From the United States Marshals Museum and a grateful nation, you have our thanks and are in our thoughts in everything we do.
------------------
The United States Marshals Museum is a national museum located on the riverfront in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Once open, we will tell the story of our nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency from its establishment by President George Washington through current day. The Museum will honor the sacrifice of Marshals killed in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to place their lives in harm’s way as they enforce the Constitution.
