2014 Crystal Apple HD PASCO

2014 Tri-City Crystal Apple Awards for Excellence in Education honored ten local teachers and one surprise special achievement winner. Celebrating its 16th year, the Crystal Apple Award ceremony took place at 4:30 PM on March 13 in the Gjerde Center at Columbia Basin College in Pasco.

This annual recognition of outstanding educators in our communities is only possible through generous contributions from community organizations, businesses, and service groups. On March 13, this year's winners will be recognized for their dedication and impact on education. The Crystal Apple Award program was initiated in 1999 and, after the March 13 ceremony, will have honored 191 local teachers. (See the attached list of 2014 Crystal Apple winners.) The teachers have already been informed of their awards.

This award program is the largest of its kind in the state of Washington. Superintendents from the seven represented districts (Columbia-Burbank, Finley, Kennewick, Kiona-Benton, North Franklin, Pasco and Richland) will present checks to each winner, "Crystal Apples," certificates, and other gifts generously donated by local businesses and organizations.

At the close of the presentation, a "Special Achievement Award" will be presented as a surprise to one winner for his or her outstanding and sustained contributions to education across the Mid-Columbia region. (This person did not know of the award beforehand but will be present in the audience.)
