If you use SEO, you'll know it's not that easy to get links to affiliated pages. No one wants to link to them and this is where the Butterfly Technique comes into play.

What is the Butterfly Technique?
It is the technique of transforming an organic page that is void of any advertisement into a promotional page.

In a nutshell
1) Start with a completely pure page.
2) Revise it using the community feedback
3) Make it promotional

Let's break down the technique even further.

Step 1: The Pure Launch:
Increasing the odds of your content being shared, linked etc.

People judge your content based on 3 main elements

Your title (Headline)
- Does it convey value?
- Is it interesting?
- World first or rehashed?
Check time on page and the reaction from social media. Is it negative or neutral?

Your header image / graphics
- Value will be determined by illustrations & images.
- The images must look as if they were created specifically for this article: If it looks like a stock image, people will assume it wasn’t made for this article.
- It’s not about having relevant imagery, it’s about having bespoke imagery.

Your table of content (sub-headlines)
- People don’t read… they scan.
- People treat pages like books, they’ll read your table of content and determine if they want to continue or not.
- Having catchy ‘benefit oriented’ sub-headlines is a surefire way to convey value.

The next stage is to tackle the 3 elements that create​ a successful affiliate page.

Phase 1: Pure Launch:
Omit / Remove all promotions from the content
- I won’t include any affiliate links
- I won’t include any opt-insI won’t have any call to actions (except for commenting/sharing)
- I won’t have any ads (banners, etc)
Clean and pure!!
Then I go share it on social media, have a press releaseand do manual outreach (Send it to other website owners)

Phase 2: Improvement
For 2-3 days, I adjusting the page based on feedback.
If done correctly, you’ll receive a lot of feedback on the page. Things you can improve on, what people liked and disliked.
And… if the page wasn’t as successful as you expected, you might need to change major elements such as your title / images.
The user feedback creates a solid foundation and allows your page to persist on a long term basis.

Phase 3: Promotion
After 2 weeks, the page transforms into a money-making machine.
The reason I wait so long is because it takes time for webmasters to link to you. The longer you wait, the more likely you are to receive natural backlinks.
I start adding in affiliate links, in-line recommendations, opt-ins, call-to-actions right at the top of the article, banners, etc.
