Government not 'fundamentally fixing’ policy leaders to 'take away' inflation pressure

Nationals Leader David Littleproud says the government is not “fundamentally fixing” the policy leaders that would take away inflation pressure.

Mr Littleproud’s comments come as Treasurer Jim Chalmers is set to hand down the budget on Tuesday.

“What they’re trying to do is mask over what are the drivers of inflation with short-term spending without addressing the fundamental policy leaders,” Mr Littleproud told Sky News Australia.

“We can have all the numbers in the world, and you can mask over it with some cash splash … but if you don’t fundamentally address the issues at play then we’ve gone nowhere.”
