1943 World War II Film: P-47 Thunderbolts to Europe by Carrier; Munda Airfield Grows in the Solomons

The motion picture film holdings at the National Archives are said to hold almost 300,000 reels of film. Sometimes, possibly as the result of a previous film project, seemingly disjointed topics are collocated.
Here's a two-topic example, starting with the arrival at Belfast harbor of Army Air Forces razorback P-47 Thunderbolt fighters aboard an escort carrier, the USS Block Island (CVE-21). Block Island made two trips from New York to Belfast in 1943 ferrying Thunderbolts before the carrier entered antisubmarine service in the Atlantic. CVE-21 became the only American aircraft carrier sunk in the Atlantic when a German submarine successfully torpedoed the ship on May 29, 1944.
The second part of this film collection treats Munda, New Georgia, in the Solomon Islands. The Americans took the Munda airfield from Japanese defenders in August 1943. In the film, Navy Seabees work with heavy equipment to extend the Munda runway as P-38s -- possibly F-5 photo variants -- and other warplanes take off overhead. The film captures scenes of heavy equipment working together as bulldozers pile fill dirt for a mechanical shovel to lift into waiting dump trucks.
The caption data from National Archives includes film abbreviations like: LS (Long Shot); MCU (Medium Close Up); BG (Background); FG (Foreground) and others. A correction has been made to show this carrier as CVE-21:
