Minimalist laundry hacks: my top tips for maintaining your wardrobe

Death, taxes, and deodorant build up, am I right?

If you have a small wardrobe or are in the process of decluttering and working towards your tiny dream wardrobe, you've likely noticed that you have to care for your clothes a bit more intentionally than before. When you wear items on a heavy rotation, this leads to more wear and tear on your garments, so here are the laundry hacks that I believe have helped me to preserve my clothing--some of which I've owned for upwards of five years.

Some things I failed to mention that will likely come up:
1. Re-dying your clothes - I think this is a great idea, I just haven't tried it because I'm afraid of accidentally, inadvertently dying other things or ruining my washer. If you've tried it, more power to you, and I would love to know how it worked.
2. Washing things inside out - I've tried this and haven't noticed a difference. I tend to wash a garment right-side or inside-out depending on which side is the most soiled (sweat vs dirt).
3. Cold water - I wash all of my clothing on a delicate, cold water cycle to help preserve the integrity of the garment.
4. Why don't you just switch deodorants? - Because I am a sweaty person and I live in Texas. I actually recently purchased the Native blackberry and green tea aluminum-free deodorant only because I was curious and we're out of triple digits. I do like it, but I'm not sure it'll do the trick when it's actually hot.
5. What laundry products do you use? - I'm in the process of attempting to find at least marginally more sustainable, reduced or zero plastic alternatives for some of my laundry products, but (a) it'll take a long time for me to use up what I have before I am willing to purchase alternatives and (b) while I haven't given up, I'm not finding the reviews of the alternatives that I've looked into super promising. Right now, I'm using up some Method, Laundress, Tide, and OxyClean products. And vinegar, which I've recently discovered is good for everything but still smells vile.
