Their marriage united the House of York and the House of Lancaster, and in effect brought an end to the wars of the roses. Elizabeth did not involved herself in matters of the state and seemed to have little interest in 15th and 16th century politics. But Elizabeth was a princess in her own right, being the daughter of Edward IV of England, but at the age of 37 inside the walls of the Tower of London, Elizabeth of York tragically passed away. Her death left her husband distraught and devastated, and she was buried inside of Westminster Abbey.
