London's Docklands Light Railway - Part 1

Part 2: https://youtu.be/r7auZmtF2cs

This is the first of a two part film showing the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in London.

The DLR is a relatively new light metro system in East London, mostly serving the redeveloped Docklands area along the river Thames.

It began operation in 1987 and it is fully automated. Trains drive themselves, and the only staff on board is a guard, who operates the doors and supervises the passengers boarding and alighting at stations.

Since inauguration, the system has grown massively. It connects the two major financial centres at Bank and Canary Wharf, the ExCel Exhibition Centre, London City Airport, and reaches as far north as Stratford.

The first part shows the Stratford-to-Poplar branch at Bow Church, Pudding Mill Lane and Poplar.

Enjoy!

Recorded: October 20, 2015.
