Collodion Basics Part 3: Equipment

This is the third of ten videos in a series meant to demonstrate the basics of wet plate photography. Following all the way through should teach you everything you need to outfit yourself and start making your first tintype photos.

In this installment, I discuss equipment. The things you'll need to buy for wetplate, some things you might want to buy, and what you can safely avoid buying to minimize your startup cost. I'll be posting another add-on video at the same time about darkboxes for shooting in the field or any space where you don't have access to a darkroom.

20th Century Camera is also going to be offering a 3D printed 4x5 wet plate holder for sale soon. When they launch I'll probably try to acquire one for myself to test and review, but for now you can keep an eye out for them at https://20thcenturycamera.com/

You can find my 3D printed wet plate accessory designs at https://www.thingiverse.com/robertbieber

And finally, here is a listing for the Czech silver tank/fixer tank/drying rack combo that I DO NOT recommend buying: https://www.amazon.com/Wet-Plate-Collodion-4x5-Start/dp/B01M02LR3Q/

You may find them on eBay and other shopping sites as well, I recommend avoiding it if you see it.
