What is HOROPEDIA: The Watchmaking Culture
Today is a great day to mark another historical milestone in contemporary watchmaking. Marc André is finally sharing with you the details of his ambitious and meaningful endeavour fully centred around the notion of transmission of knowledge - the HOROPEDIA Project.
It is a comprehensive online video encyclopaedia on watchmaking and the entirety of its ecosystem. The "Berner of the XXI century". The main goal of Horopedia is to document all the horological know-how for current and future generations. High-end technologies and videos of exceptional quality will be used to do so.
The first videos showcasing artisanal and semi-artisanal production methods of different watch components can be found on horopedia.org.
1. Bevelling techniques: https://horopedia.org/beveling/
2. Watchmaking tweezers: https://horopedia.org/tweezers/
3. Escape-wheel: https://horopedia.org/escape-wheel/
4. Geneva Watchmaking School: https://horopedia.org/geneva-watchmaking-school/
Horopedia uses a neutral and independent approach in creating all its educational content. To ensure this the Horopedia Foundation was established. In February 2023 it received the status of the “foundation of public interest" as an official recognition of the importance of its mission to safeguard the horological heritage.
Horopedia signifies a pivotal moment, heralding a new chapter in the study and preservation of watchmaking excellence. You can become part of the Project by sharing your knowledge and ideas, telling your friends and colleagues about Horopedia, or supporting it with a donation: https://horopedia.org/donations/
