Horror movies are essentially made to scare the wits out of us. Okay, they are also great to bring a date too and there are also people out there that are legitimate horror movie buffs who love a good scare.

The genre is continually pushing the envelope in finding creative ways to tap into our fears but there have been groundbreaking horror movies that have managed to cross the line of fear with scenes that are just plain sick.

It’s a very thin line but these movies and horror franchises have found a way to tread it. The results of their courageous creativity have resulted in them becoming classics of the genre.
